What exactly is a 0x?
A 0x is a new physical music format: the album takes the shape of a card. You own that edition, collect it and listen by tapping the card against an NFC-compatible phone. Your phone opens the music player in your browser.
Do I need the card to listen? What if I lend it?
Yes. Just like a cassette, your 0x is the physical object you need to listen to the album. Cryptography ties access to the music to the card itself. Lend the card, and you lend the listening too: you cannot listen to that album again until the card is back in your hands.
Can I listen without an Internet connection?
Yes. Offline mode lets you listen to your music even without an Internet connection. The card remains the key to your album, online and offline.
Do I need to download an app?
No. The music opens in your browser, with no dedicated app or listener account. You need your 0x and an NFC-compatible phone. Offline mode also lets you listen without an Internet connection.
Will it work with my phone?
Your phone must support reading NFC tags. The location of the sensor and whether NFC needs to be enabled depend on the model. Check compatibility with your phone’s manufacturer before buying.
How do I buy a 0x?
Artists offer 0x cards as part of their releases. Check the official channels of the artist you are interested in, or contact 0xTape to find out which editions are available. Prices and track selections vary by edition.
